How much do graduates and interns get paid at GHD?

Steven Nield

Graduate Recruitment Lead

Answer: Pay at GHD is based on your academic background. We have a salary band structure that is different for engineers, scientists, architects.

This is something we'd have a conversation with you about during the recruitment process.

All of our interns are paid on an hourly rate basis. You are essentially a full-time casual employee. If you are following a standard semester model, this means you usually work with us for 12 weeks. If you are following a trimester model, it's usually an 8 week internship.

The reason we do our internships on an hourly basis is that it gives us a lot of flexibility to keep you on and keep you engaged after your internship. We use interns as a feeder process for a graduate program, so we often make graduate offers after your internship and we want you to continue working with us on a part-time basis until you graduate.

All of our graduate program positions (outside of those for international students) are on a permanent full-time basis. We express your salary as a package, meaning your base salary and superannuation are all mixed into one.

The reason why international students are receive a different offer is because we need to line up your graduate program end date with the end of your visa (which gives you your working rights). We do this because if your visa ends and you haven't secured permanent residency, then you can't legally continue working for us in Australia. If you do get your permanent residency visa, then it's pretty straight forward for you to continue working with us.
