Pros and cons of working at Raytheon Australia

Pros

  • My supervisors are extremely interested in my career development and make sure to give me all the opportunities I need to reach my potential.

  • The company is flexible in working arrangements, meaning that I can work from home where required or fit hours around other commitments.

  • GradX has offered me many opportunities in training including Essential Leadership training and Principles of Systems Engineering training.

  • Opinions are appreciated and you feel extremely supported by senior members of your team, who are genuinely invested in your development and growth.

  • Colleagues in my current workspace are fantastic to work alongside. They are supportive of my own personal development.

Cons

    • There isn't enough technical engineering work. Majority of the work is admin, configuration management work and integration work.

    • The large variations in my workload... Sometimes I am very quiet, and other times I have heaps to do.

    • Salary is not competitive, and salary negotiations are fairly difficult to succeed with.

    • The large variations in my workload. Sometimes I am very quiet, with not much work to do, and other times I have heaps to do. I'd prefer if it was more consistent, but I understand it's the nature of the industry.

    • Promotion opportunities are quite rigid... you must meet certain requirements to move up, and it can be difficult to obtain the necessary experience.
